"Science and visual art have one source of inspiration:
In the last 9 years Binyamin produced an amazing body of work and achieved astonishing artistic accomplishments. A mountain climber in the past and an avid traveler, he masterfully uses his life experiences in his art. In his paintings the artist reflects a sharp and imaginative perception of reality at times literally, but more often translating it into his own language of imagery, where essence is highlight-ted, the extraordinary and unique is embraced. At the core of Mr. Shalumov's art works lay uninhibited impressions of the present and sharp recollections of the past. His natural gift for such honesty is easily seen in his paintings driven by the concepts of harmony, openness and movement. Following the footsteps of Impressionistic tradition, Binyamin possesses an individual, unique manner and techniques. He paints canvases of deep philosophical meaning, intimately emotional landscapes, portraits, character pieces, stills, expressive pastels, charcoal and pensile drawings. The artist, who was born in Russia and currently resides in the US, is a Citizen of the World in its truest sense. He is equality "at home" painting American autumn foliage, sunset in Tel-Aviv, Swiss Alps mountaintops or landscapes of his native country. Summer 2006 is noted by the poetic cycle of works created during his journey of Dagestan. The paintings reflect not only the mysterious beauty of the heavenly nature of the country, but also the emotional depth and generosity of its people. During the past 9 years Binyamin gained significant recognition: he became a member of the Artists Union of Russia and the International Artists Federation, a member of the American Western New York Artists Group, Williamsville Art Society. In addition, he was honorably awarded the Medal of the Artist’s Union of Russia and the International Artist’s Federation and the Russian Federation Order of PITER GRAIT by first power for his contribution in the Russian national cultural and science development. B. Shalumov has presented his works at numerous personal and group exhibitions (20-Solo) worldwide: in Russia, USA, Canada, Europe. Moreover, his paintings were acquired by private collections in Russia, Canada, Great Britain, Sweden, Denmark, Israel, Switzerland, Czech Republic, the Ukraine and Kazakhstan.
